Charlotte McLean

Kayleigh Pincott is a vocalist, arranger and composer currently in her fourth year of study at the Queensland Conservatorium. Having spent the last few years under the guidance of teachers Dr Irene Bartlett and Kristin Berardi, Kayleigh has been able to hone her vocal technique and artistry on jazz and contemporary repertoire. At the Qld Con, Kayleigh is fortunate to be a solo vocalist in the ‘The Con Artists’ jazz orchestra and a valued member of the ‘InVoices’ vocal ensemble, last year delving into arranging music for both groups. Outside of the Qld Con, Kayleigh is busy leading her own projects and has been arranging for a 10-piece band and writing original music for a guitar and voice duo utilizing effects pedals, as well as playing regularly with her quartet. This year Kayleigh won the coveted ‘Generations In Jazz’ vocal scholarship competition from a field of six finalists from all over Australia. Hand-picked by James Morrison, the finalists have the opportunity to play with some of Australia’s most accomplished musicians and are judged by an expert panel of international guests. Kayleigh’s sensitive and captivating performance style, complemented by her strong sense of swing, has seen her labelled as one of Australia’s most exciting young vocalists.
