Young Women's Jazz Workshop

  • QLD Multicultural Centre Auditorium 102 Main Street Kangaroo Point, QLD, 4169 Australia (map)

The Brisbane International Jazz Festival seeks to foster opportunities for more female instrumentalists to experience the joy of playing jazz.

This jazz workshop has been specifically designed for Female instrumentalists currently attending High School (Year 7 -12) who wish to gain an understanding of jazz music and develop their creative skills through improvisation.

The workshop aims to encourage and nurture young female players to “have a go” in a non-judgmental secure environment with professional women jazz artists.

Jazz Lecturer and professional jazz pianist Paula Girvan (M.Mus, B.Mus, Adv Dip Mus.) will conduct the workshop with Kendall Layt (double bass) and Katie Randall (drums) who are both currently tertiary students at the Jazz Music Institute.
