Tristan Rogers found his love for the trumpet at age seven and has since had the pleasure of performing on the national and international stage. Initially determined to learn the trombone, his lack of arm length forced him to take up the next shiniest instrument. Having recently completed his Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) where he was awarded an Area of Strategic Investment Scholarship, Tristan has the pleasure of studying under the guidance of internationally acclaimed trumpeter Andrew McNaughton. In 2011, he received the H.J. King Music Scholarship at the prestigious Australian all boys school The Southport School and was the first international student to be awarded a scholarship to attend the Great Basin Jazz Camp in 2010 (Twin Falls, Idaho, USA). Performing in ensembles inside and outside QCGU and as a freelance musician, Tristan has had the honour of performing with Stephen Newcomb (AUS), James Morrison (AUS), Julian Arguelles (UK), Jason Derulo (USA), Carl Saunders and Scott Whitfield (USA), Elly Hoyt, Kristin Berardi and Roscoe James Irwin (AUS). 2015 marked his partnership with David Temby, becoming the youngest Temby Trumpet Artist, exclusively playing trumpets designed and built by the master craftsman. Tristan immerses himself in a wide range of genres outside of jazz, however; his passion lies in writing and performing his original compositions that reflect his colourful and eventful personal journey so far.
