MWIJF Quintet (Sydney & Melbourne)

BIJF warmly welcomes the first Brisbane concert of the MWIJF Quintet, a cohesive unit of inspiring Multi Award winning women improvisers and composers.

MWIJF Quintet is an annual presentation at The Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival (MWIJF) a not for profit association established in 1997 to foster opportunities for female jazz and improvised music performers, composers, arrangers, bandleaders and instrumentalists.

Each year the final MWIJF concert brings together nationally and internationally acclaimed women jazz artists to premiere two new works composed by each ensemble member for the specific years line up.

Get set to encounter the inspiring works and expertise of Australia’s most highly acclaimed Women jazz artists and composers premiering new and original work for the festival’s closing concert at QMC.

Parmis Rose & The Beauty School Dropouts! (Brisbane)

Parmis Rose is a pianist, composer and arranger who spent her formative years playing Madonna, Michael Jackson and various 70s/80s Television Themes on her Techniques Electric Piano. Since completing her Jazz Degree from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2005, Parmis has been performing original, cabaret and pop around the nation from Adelaide and Melbourne Fringe Festivals to the Byron Bay Bluesfest as pianist with Sahara Beck’s touring band.

Together with her Beauty School Dropouts you’ll experience the best of Jazz and Pop fused into a delicious blend of palatably catchy, yet creatively complex sounds everyone can enjoy.
